Environmental Manager

Chicago, Illinois (USA) area

This company is the largest manufacturer of its type in the U.S., and this facility has approximately 450 employees.

The Environmental Manager will have 12 reports including an Environmental Engineer, Supervisor and water and bag house operators. This is a Leadership role that promotes the company’s Mission, ensuring safety is instilled as a value, an appropriate focus on community and environmental stewardship and a proven focus on profitability. This role manages the facility’s environmental activities including compliance, permitting and relationships with State and Federal environmental agencies. This position analyzes data and situations, thinks strategically, negotiates effectively and manages multiple projects simultaneously. This role develops environmental strategy with a focus on relationships with operations/maintenance/administrative departments and continuous cost reduction. This person should have proven ability to develop team members through training and individual reviews/coaching. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within the company; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Qualifications: Proven knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance standards and technical understanding of baghouse and water systems; strong communication skills both written and verbal; demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills, including experience in negotiations; self-starter and self-motivated work ethic and a passion that is contagious; demonstrated ability to analyze data and think strategically; demonstrated business acumen; minimum of 10 years leadership experience with environmental, maintenance, or operations.

 

EHS Manager

Paris, Illinois (USA) area

Our client is a specialty chemical manufacturing company

This position reports to the Plant Operations Manager and has three direct reports in this chemical manufacturing plant that has approximately 60 employees. Some of the responsibilities include: develop and implement programs and policies for monitoring, controlling and preventing chemical, physical and biological hazards at the facility; evaluates company health and safety performance records, internal compliance audits, training and makes recommendations to upper management to correct any observed issues; supervises all outside environmental contractors; surveys, compiles and analyzes data relating to occupational and environmental health issues such as chemical exposure, smoke, fumes, noise temperatures, dusts, vapors, mists and gases.

Qualifications: BS degree and 4+ years EH&S experience (with an emphasis on environmental) some of which preferably should be in a chemical manufacturing environment.

 

Division Director EHS

Orange County, California (USA) area

Our client is an American industrial goods and metal fabrication company with approximately $10B in revenue. The division has between nine and 11 manufacturing facilities and approximately 2000-3000 employees.

Qualifications: 10+ years multi-site EH&S experience in a heavy manufacturing environment; demonstrated ability in safety culture change; demonstrated experience in interacting with the EPA and OSHA. BS Safety, Environmental Science, IH, Engineering or related; ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
